This article demonstrates how Site Owners, Administrators, and Instructors can duplicate a classroom for reuse with a new semester or group of students.
Overview
Educators (Site Owners, Administrators, and Instructors) wishing to reuse a classroom’s scheduled content for a new group of students have the option to duplicate any existing classroom. This feature will copy almost everything from one classroom to a new one, and schedule the same activities for you based on the new classroom’s calendar.
What gets duplicated?
- Classroom Description
- Classroom Thumbnail and Banner Images
- All scheduled content, which will be scheduled based on the new calendar settings you provide
- All activities’ gradebook settings (e.g. point values)
- Note: Students will not be copied into the new classroom
Duplicating a Classroom
This function is found within the “Danger Zone” of the Classroom Settings. To navigate there,
- Log in to Blueprint
- Click “Classrooms” in the left-hand navigation, then the desired classroom.
- Click “Settings” at the upper right corner
- Scroll down until you see the “Danger Zone”
Click “Duplicate Classroom” to initiate the process. You will immediately be prompted to provide key information for the new classroom, such as the new Classroom Name, meeting schedule, known holidays, and the start date. For the start date, select the day where you would like Blueprint to begin copying your schedule from the previous course (note - this may not always be the first day of class).
Next, click Duplicate Classroom. You will be redirected to your new classroom. From here, we suggest visiting the new classroom’s settings page to update the Classroom Description and/or thumbnail and banner images to ensure they are appropriate for your new classroom.
